Mitt Romney has canceled an appearance scheduled for this Thursday on ABC’s talk show The View, according to The Huffington Post.
Barbara Walters,
one of the show’s co-hosts, announced on Monday’s show that the campaign
canceled the appearance due to a scheduling conflict and was unable to
reschedule prior to the election.
Romney's appearance was to be a
joint one with his wife, Ann; she will still be appearing on the show.
In a leaked video made infamous for its “47 percent” comments, Romney
had called a potential appearance on the show “high risk,” because it had “sharp-tongued” hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, whom he mentioned by name. Those remarks did not sit well with Goldberg.
President Obama had been criticized
for appearing on the show in September — and avoiding meeting with
world leaders — during the opening of the United Nations’ General
Assembly.
